So I've been following a fantastic blog that is teaching me about photography. I have been trying to do this exercise for a few days but I finally had a chance to do it while Nikolas was napping.
Here's my DOF exercise - I got it! Toby is my model today.
My first picture I used a f4.5, 1/25 shutter and manually focused on Toby. Toby is in focus. The ottoman and the items behind Toby aren't.
So, then Toby decided to look at me! :) This time I used a f16, 1/2 shutter (tried to stay steady). This time the other things are focused too!
This is SO cool!! I love that I'm learning! I know it's not the BEST example - but it DID work! YAY!

Trying to get it...
So I've been playing around trying to get my DOF (depth of field) working.... I say working but really it means my brain working around it all. I've attempted some photos and changed my f-stop but it's not quite doing what I want. I will play some more though.
Here's a pic of my little man eating his lunch yesterday. I'm not liking that the auto ISO is so high. This pic was taken at f5.6, 1/30 and 1250 ISO... Should I manually bring it down? I thought there was enough light that it would have auto-iso'd to maybe 200. I do like that I had a narrow DOF.

I already miss the weekend!
I didn't have a chance to get on here this weekend but I already miss it. Weekends around here is our family time. Daddy is home and we love it!! I took some pics this weekend but haven't taken anything off my camera yet.
I have been learning about aperture, shutter speed, ISO and how they all affect our photos. I have been attempting to shoot in the creative modes (with varied success). My latest lesson is regarding Depth of Field. My goal today is to finish the lesson and post a couple of pics to demonstrate the depth of field.
It's FREEZING here today - it may be a jammie day for us!

My new blog
Today I have decided to return to Blogland! I used to blog a long time ago on another site, but I just got bored of it all. Some of my friends have started a 365 Photo blogs and I think I wanna follow suit!
I am going to learn how to take better pictures and how to edit them to be even BETTER! Any help will be welcome and appreciated! ;)
With that - welcome to my blog! Here's a photo I took of my son, Nikolas on January 7 (I intend on taking and posting new pics every day!). It's straight out of the camera, no edits - yet! LOL
